If you’ve turned on your computer in the last few years, you can hardly have failed to notice a blog or two. They are now everywhere, covering all subjects under the sun.
There are now millions of people around the world writing blogs, it is quite a challenge to make yours stand out and get noticed.
When blogging first started it was a simple way for the bloggers just top express themselves, offering a great method to communicate your thoughts, ideas, and opinions with an audience.
But blogging has gone a long way over the years. Now, blogging is considered as an effective tool to both promote a business as well as in generating money directly.
The earning potential of a blog is totally dependent on how you market your blog, your audience and your influence. Creating an income source through blogging takes time, persistence and knowledge. However, a vast majority doesn’t realize how to do it and most blogs vanish within a short time of starting. There is an extremely high failure rate.
When I came into the blogosphere it was with my passion for my topics of healthy lifestyles and personal development, and a desire to connect with others. Blogging gave me the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals around the globe who share my passion. It allowed me to create something of value each day, and help make the difference.
Bloggers can be divided into two general groups – the hobby blogger and the professional blogger. The difference, simply put, comes down to motive.
To me the biggest difference is pro bloggers posts are intensely practical and useful to the reader. Each one solves a problem or teaches something. You have a sense that the blogger is not merely blogging for his own personal expression but is blogging to meet the needs of his readership.
To be a successful blogger, whether hobbyist or pro, you have to follow your passion and stick to your area of expertise, otherwise you will get pretty much no where.
So what makes a blog a success? Let’s discuss some simple ways to achieve a successful blog.
Choose your niche. Write about a topic that you are most interested and knowledgeable of, as your knowledge will be reflected in your writings.
Create Unique Content. You want first time visitors to return again and again. The best way to ensure this happens is to write entertaining, informative and helpful articles.
Build up your subscribers List. This will keep my network marketing followers happy. This seems to be bit of a holly grail to them. So yes invite your visitors to subscribe to your blog. This way, you can send them regular updates, newsletters and special offers. But please don’t then resort to constant bombardment of them through email marketing.
Update your blog regularly. Frequently updating your blog with new posts gets you picked up more by the major search engines, as well as showing some form of consistency to your previous visitors.
Don’t overdo your adverts. Let your readers be able to focus on your articles. Yes it is important to place ads on your site to generate money, cramming to many will just annoy your visitors and make you look like a mickey mouse advertising site rather than a genuine blog. So it’s important to get the balance right.
Respond to visitors comments. Always make it a point to respond politely to the comments from your visitors. When we first start out blogging we are desperate to receive comments, so even when we start getting them regularly you must always find the time to reply.
Post to your blog using the right keywords. By regularly using keywords you are increasing the chance for your blog to appear in search engine results, such as Google and Yahoo!
There are many strategies that can increase your blog’s worth in no time. Take your time, build it sensibly, and things will come together.
