A great number one best seller on the subject is the book ‘The Success Principles’ by Jack Canfield Since its publication a decade ago, Jack Canfield’s practical and inspiring guide has become a classic that has helped hundreds of thousands of people achieve success.
The Secret to Success is something so many of you are hungry for, but how many of you truly believe you can find it?
Within you is the secret to success, and it is your courage that will unleash your personal powers.
It is your actual belief that is one of the determining factors in whether you will be successful. If you believe you can, you will, if you believe you can’t, you won’t.
We are talking about certainty. Certainty is the acceptance of a fact without doubt. It is a level of confidence credited to particular knowledge. We are certain when we know something is true, and have no doubts.
“I act with complete certainty. But this certainty is my own.” Ludwig Wittgenstein
We all have basic needs, not merely desires but profound needs we seek to fulfill daily. These needs underlie and inspire every choice we make. They are universal within every individual. There are 6 Human Needs which include significance, uncertainty, connection, growth, contribution and certainty.
Let me use an example. For years it was said that the human body was simply not capable of a 4-minute mile. It wasn’t just dangerous; it was impossible, beyond the limit of the human body. But in May 1954, Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute mile mark by running one mile in 3:59.
Within a year John Landy joined him in breaking the four-minute barrier in 3:57.9. Since then, knowing it was possible, many athletes set about with the certainty that they could break the 4 minute mile, and did so. In the last 50 years the mile record has been lowered by almost 17 seconds, and currently stands at 3:43.13.
“Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” William Shakespeare
Creating a sense of certainty that you can achieve whatever you desire is powerful and life-changing. However, if you allow fear and doubt to take over, they become an enemy that destroys all possibilities. They control you, make you settle for less and underachieve. On the other hand, when you courageously conquer these enemies to success, you open the doors to high achievement with certainty and self-assuredness.
“If you think you can, you will. If you think you can’t, you won’t” Henry Ford
There is absolutely no doubt that we are able to become what we think ourselves to be capable of. There is no ambition too big or dream too outlandish that we are not able to think into reality. We are all able to transform ourselves into the successful person that we may have always hoped for as long as we have the certainty within, that we can. There in a nutshell is your secret to success.
If you want any part of your life to change – be it a new job, a new relationship, or improved health, a feeling of certainty must exist. Certainty assumes faith. If you are certain you can do something – you have faith that you will. If you doubt you can do something, this lack of faith will ultimately lead to underachievement.
“You’ve got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize.” Napoleon Hill
The biggest limitations are the ones in our own minds. The brain likes to think ahead and picture the future, mapping out how things will be, not just for each moment, but also for the longer term.
It gets complex when there’s two possible outcomes. Certainty or doubt. So, if you want something enough, believe you can do it, in fact be certain you will. That’s the secret to success.
When you’re absolutely certain that, “If I do this, it’s going to get the result, and that result’s going to change my life.” You’ll do it. It’s having that absolute certainty that makes you tap your full potential, and going for it.
Having certainty can feel frightening, like stepping off a cliff. There is a saying, leap and the net will appear.
You have to be able to deliver on your intent and desire. Each time you take action, feeling certain within you that you are going to succeed, you become stronger and all doubt diminishes. Certainty guides you to the results you want to achieve, and is the key secret to success.
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen” Michael Jordan”
