Stand and Deliver
The story of Jaime Escalante, a a no-nonsense high school teacher in a tough East LA high school who successfully inspired his dropout students to learn calculus. He toook a class made up of kids labelled as losers and unteachables, and was determined to turn their lives around.
The movie shows his students moving from struggling with fractions to mastering calculus in one year and successfully taking on the challenge of passing the AP Calculus test. He didn’t give up on them and was proven right not to.
