One of the greatest sporting comebacks I’ve ever witnessed was the amazing 2005 UEFA Champions league Final won by Liverpool Football Club.
European football has always been synonymous with the name Liverpool. I certainly am not a supporter of the club but I have to respect their achievements for many years during my younger days.
Liverpool beat AC Milan 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out to win the Champions League after sensationally coming from three goals down at half-time.
Liverpool won the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final, hosted at the Ataturk Stadium, Istanbul, on penalties after the match finished 3-3 after extra time. The match was remarkable for the fact that AC Milan had taken a 3-0 lead in the first half, only for Liverpool to mount an incredible comeback in the second half. In the space of 6 minutes they scored 3 goals.
I remember thinking at half time, this game is over. What an incredible 2nd half we then went on to see
What a great example of a never give up philosophy. This game proved that no matter how hopeless the situation seems you must never lose hope. You must fight on.
