As we in the United Kingdom prepare ourselves for another night of severe storms I can’t help think back to the time when it seemed my life had been hit by a hurricane which blew away everything I owned. But I soon came to learn that no matter how bad things may be for you, it’s crucial that you believe inwardly that life doesn’t have to be like this.
I think most of us have expectations of what our lives will be like. We create an idea of what we want from it. But when life doesn’t go according to plan we feel as though the wind has been taken out of our sails. We feel stuck and have no idea how to get back on course.
I strongly believe in the philosophy of never giving up and I hold up for your scrutiny my life story very much as a demonstration of this. I share what happened to me not because I want the shame of people knowing that I have been bankrupt and that I had my beautiful home repossessed from me. Nor do I tell you about my health problems with my eye operations and debilitating headaches so that you feel sorry for me. And I don’t want to gain support from the fact that my marriage of 20 years has come to an end.
I’m sharing my story because I want you to know that even when life throws difficulties and obstacles in your path, where everything for you seems to go from one struggle to another, you still have the opportunities to make the changes you need to bring your life to where you want it to be.
I know so many of you are in despair having to live day by day dealing with nothing but problems, that you are fed up with just going to work so that you can pay your bills, but then being able to afford very few luxuries in life. Happiness seems to be out of your reach, and you are tired of the daily battles you face. Well life doesn’t have to be like this.
Through my difficult period I learned so much and understood what it takes to survive and move things forward to prosperity. One of the most important things I did was to determine exactly where I wanted my life to go, what I wanted.
Bankruptcy although not something I would wish on anyone, because it brings so many difficulties, allowed me to completely refocus on what I wanted from my life. I had not been in a position where I had nothing to my name before, and at first this really brought me into a downward spiral of emotion.
Eventually I came to realise that having a clean slate offered me the opportunity to strive for anything I desired, after all I had nothing to lose. I was driven by a far more compelling motivation than earning money and rebuilding my worldly possessions.
I wanted to leave a legacy where I contributed something special to the world. A crazy proposition perhaps for somebody in a place like I was, but believe me having such a strong purpose can empower you to achieve the impossible and certainly shows that life doesn’t have to be like this, whatever this may be.
Everything I have done since, building my online business has been created to allow me to bring my personal development passions, the skills I possess and the knowledge I have acquired from my battle to return from failure to success to allow me to develop my Never Give Up Teachings Community and Course.

Be brave…
… and discover who you are. Winston S. Churchill said ‘Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.’ In my opinion to be brave enough to try something and see it through to the end, to not give up until you succeed, to stick to your guns is an important recipe for success. So take on all adversity with bravery and determination and you are sure to succeed.
Help others…
… because life’s about sharing and supporting others. There is nothing that will make you feel more valued, needed, and essential than helping others. It is a fact that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.
Nurture a sense of gratitude …
… when you have an ongoing sense of gratitude, even when times are hard, you will feel much more like your life is a worthwhile thing. If you see the good you already have in your life it will give you the foundations to move things forward.
Learn from your failures …
… because they can teach you things of true value. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are, valuable life lessons that can point you in the right direction. To move forward in life, you must learn from your mistakes
I wonder what revelation you would discover if I asked you ‘what knowledge can you pass on from the failures you’ve experienced.’ What lessons have you learned from everything that beset you.
