A “blog” is an abbreviated word for web-log, a web-based journal in which people can publish their thoughts and opinions on the Internet.
The activity of updating a blog is “blogging,” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” You can blog with little or no technical background “Postings” which are the articles you write on your blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently.
Why Blog?
Ask yourself “What’s my motivation?”
Take a look at this list to help you make your decision about blogging.
1. To Express Yourself
You have lots of thoughts and opinions. Why don’t you share them with others? If you have something to say, a blog provides a great place to say it. A blog provides you with freedom of self expression, Think about how incredible this really is. You have an opportunity to enter the blogosphere, a part of the world wide web where you can communicate yourthoughts, ideas, and opinions for all the world to see,
2. To Help People
Many blogs are written to help people. For myself, I love sharing knowledge. Passing on advise to people that need it. To encourage others, to make them believe more in themselves, and to share my passions and my knowledge.
3. To Establish Yourself as an Authority
Blogs are wonderful tools to help bloggers establish themselves as experts in their niche, their specialist field. Blogging can demonstrate your expertise, and in time build your credibility in the area that you are both knowledgeable and passionate about.
4. To build your Network
Blogging is a way to network and meet wonderful people, and create many new friendships. Through Internet interaction particular from social network sites you will make connections with many people, forging friendships with some. You will cross paths with many interesting people from all walks of life from all around the world. You all have blogging in common.
5. To Continuously Learn
Part of blogging is to read other blogs. This enables you to stay abreast of your own niche, but also to explore many areas that you wouldn’t have imagined prior to blogging. I now read blogs in a variety of different topics, and have learnt so much. When blogging I am realising so many things about myself enabling me to move my life forward.
6. To Make Money
It’s important to point out that most bloggers don’t make a lot of money blogging, but the potential does exist to generate revenue from your blog with hard work and commitment. There are many ways to make money blogging, but my suggestion is you don’t even think about them until you establish your blog and have attracted readers.
7. To Have Fun and Be Creative
One of the biggest reason to start a blog is because it’s fun. As I’ve said often a key to successful blogging is having a passion about your blog’s topic, so you can write prolifically about it. To me my blog gives me a creative outlet and I get a real buzz every time I publish my article. Never forget – Blogging is Fun!
8. To Change your Life
Blogging has changed my life for the better. I truly love every second I spend doing it. I’ve made great friends, I’ve found something that I’m really good at. It allows me a stage to help people change their life’s for the better, therefore enabling me to make the difference. I have been able to redirect my career, so that now I am a full time blogger. I had never imagined this possible when I started.
9. Achieve Your Dreams
Thanks to blogging I am able to set myself the goal of establishing a location independent lifestyle. I’m working towards this independent lifestyle and blogging and having an online business makes this a real possibility for me. Of course I have to put in a lot of work, time and effort. Let blogging help you achieve your dream.
10. You can Write about Anything
This can often be the hardest part to creating a blog. Deciding what you are going to actually write about or blog about. If you learn one thing from this post it would have to be; blog about something you really like and will continue to like for years to come. Let your passions fire your imagination. Then blog away to your hearts content on the subject you love.
For me, blogging has been a very successful way to connect, communicate and create a business where my knowledge, passion and coaching skills have been able to come to the forefront. I’d recommend anyone to start a blog.
