How are you different and better to what’s already out there? In what area are you special? What is it about you that appeals to people? Do you have something to say that people want to listen to? Maybe knowledge about a subject that others would be fascinated to learn what it is you know? Maybe it’s just your passion for something that resonates through what you would write that people would simply want to read.
What is your area of differentiation? What demonstrates that how are you different and better than your competition? This is the key to success in business. What is it that you could offer to your customers that none of your competitors currently are offering? What is it that your business does for your customers that makes you special in some way? You have got to be different, that is the simplicity of how to be successful. Don’t just try to copy what’s out there already. Find your niche, then play your part offering something that nobody else is doing. Be yourself, the magical you, bringing to the world what only you can.
The same goes for your creative talent. You have a unique gift, shaped by unique experiences. If you can package this you have a winning formula. You have to determine what you are better at than anyone else.
One of your greatest responsibilities is to either determine or develop your area of differentiation, your competitive advantage, and then focus all of your marketing and sales efforts in that area.
Differentiation is essential to business today, not only in terms of a company’s success, but also for its continuing survival.
Differentiation in the context of business is what a company can hang its hat on that no other business can. Whatever it is a business can use to stand out from the rest is called differentiation.
Way back when I studied Economics for A’Level, we learnt about your ‘‘unique selling proposition?’’ This is everyone’s one area of excellence, including that of a company. What is yours? What is the one thing your business can stand up and say is your unique selling proposition.
I know that I can help anyone find that one area that they have so much passion for and fit it to a business that they can build a profitable income from it. That’s my personal unique selling proposition. What’s yours?
It is something in which you excel and that is important and valuable to your customers. Set about when creating a business to show the world how are you different and better than everything else out there!
