One of the delights we have to deal with as bloggers is comment spam that we find left on our blog posts which aren’t related in any way to what we’ve written. Where as we value highly genuine comments, comment spam can be a pain in the back side.
This can take on several forms, usually nonsensical comments linking up to URL’s for a porn or shopping sites. Or, you’ll find yourself targeted by various on line companies who bombard you with comments hoping that you are lacks and approve their comments.
.Just today, I received the following comment spam on my blog: ‘quite radical. Nonetheless, I beg your pardon, because I do not give credence to your whole idea, all be it radical none the less. It appears to everyone that your commentary are actually not completely justified and in reality you are yourself not really totally convinced of the assertion. In any event I did take pleasure in reading it’. This was promoting an online shop.
It is important that bloggers be watchful about monitoring their comments so they find those that are spam. These should always be removed so that other readers don’t wrongly associate you with these websites. You honestly don’t want this kind of shite on your site allowing the opportunity for an unsuspecting reader to be ripped off? When you find such spam, delete it immediately!
Consider it a cardinal rule of blogging: watch carefully the amount and type of comments your site receives. There’s a good chance that a spammer is trying to use your hard work to their advantage.
On my blogs we have installed Akismet . This has been a god send. On my Healthy Lifestyles Living Blog Akismet has protected my site from 54,608 spam comments already. Instead of placing these in pending, it puts them into a spam folder and gives me the choice to simply delete them. 99% of the time it’s right.
