If you are looking to make sure this coming year is your Best year ever, I’ve got a special invitation for you that is going to help. Best still it is going to cost you NOTHING. I want to help you kick off the new year with purpose and a plan in hand! But first here is the article.
Well we’re fast heading to December that time of year traditionally where my industry goes extremely quiet and we are at our easy time of the year until January where things go crazy.
Over 20 years in the fitness industry and it was always the same. The gym classes were nearly empty, the gym floor very quiet. Everyone was on Christmas countdown. They put their fitness effort on the back burner and they wait till January because that’s when everyone’s new year resolutions come with renewed vigour.
Boy did our doors swing open wildly in January. Morning afternoon and evening, we were busy, things actually got pretty crazy. Old faces and new. Experienced gym goers and complete novices. Weight loss and fitness were always the top goals, followed by toning and shaping, improving energy, and then the list goes on and on.
Alas in gyms across the world they will tell the same story. By the end of January faces began to disappear, never to be seen again. This same story happened year after year. The same alas applies to most people’s new year resolutions whatever they may be. Not just health and fitness related ones but career, relationship, all sorts, every sort, people quit on them before January was even over. But why? Why doesn’t that initial motivation hold for at least more than a month. Many people like to point the finger at the concept of new year resolutions themselves. They tell us they’re a waste of time. They’re not.
The problem is most people wait until the new year to begin before setting their New Year Resolutions. At dinner on New Year’s Eve, as the Countdown begins, we prepare ourselves for a clean slate and ready ourselves to state our goals for this New Year.
That’s where we get it wrong. We should have planned for them and created our action plan well before we got to January, because preparation is key.
It’s so easy to see why the first of January is such a good time to set resolutions, why we choose then to start working on our goals. Having a whole new year ahead of us is exciting.
It’s a fresh start where we get to leave all the things we didn’t like about last year in the past. It can feel like the world is our oyster, that there’s nothing but opportunities ahead of us.
You can’t leave it to January. We all know that very quickly into the new year we are back at work, the pressures mount, the demands placed upon us increase, and before we know it, we are back into frantic living. Having not prepared for this, built into our plan solutions for all eventualities therefore protecting our new year resolutions, as soon as we find ourselves immersed in ‘living’ we quickly get knocked off course.
So it is time to change this, and make your New Year Resolutions for 2019 SUCCEED!
You need to set yourself up for success by getting a head start on your new year resolutions now—while still enjoying some of the festive spirit that’s sure to come your way.
Change is hard, it is difficult to make lasting behaviour changes. The most common goal setting mistake people make is setting a goal but not thinking about how they’ll achieve it. Yet when you have an action plan set in place in advance of the start of the year you are giving yourself the best chance for success. Creating a New Year Plan that you can start right away the New Year begins.
Failing to Plan, IS PLANNING TO FAIL.
When you have a plan for your goal, you have a clear picture of how you’re supposed to start and what you’re supposed do in the following weeks and months. It’s hard to start doing anything if you only have a vague concept in your head. It’s a different case if you’ve already thought ahead of what is going to be required for you to achieve your resolutions. You’ll be ready.
Make a plan that is easy to implement
You could take the easy route, or the easiest way to get started. Grab a piece of paper, and write down what you want your New Year’s resolutions to be. The fewer the better.
According to research (by Statistic Brain Research Institute), most common New Year Resolutions are:
- Lose weight/healthier eating
- Life/self-improvements
- Better financial decision
- Quit smoking
- Do more exciting things
- Spend more time with family/close friends
- Work out more often
- Learn something new on my own
- Do more good deeds for others
- Find the love of my life
- Find a better job
Now whatever your new year resolution, brainstorm all the steps and techniques that you will employ in order to fulfil this. Think of everything you can.
What steps will I need to take?
Do I need any resources?
Will I need any specific tools?
Would gaining more knowledge about something help?
What about support? Do I have anyone that could support or guide me?
But even with all these things in place and the right resources at your disposal, you will still undoubtedly suffer setbacks. You need to take any possible setbacks into account before you venture onto your journey and ask yourself:
How could I possibly falter along this journey?
Who might potentially sabotage my progress?
What distractions might I face?
What mistakes could I potentially make?
How will I respond to all these setbacks?
Once you have the answers to all these questions, it’s now time to design your plan of action around specific actions you will take that will help you achieve your resolution.
With all this in place, you can be out the blocks the first day of January and make progress before we even get to the end of the first week. All because you’ve taken the time to prepare your roadmap to guide you in advance.
So as you can see, if you plan for your success, and follow through with those goals, you can be successful.
If you are looking to make sure this coming year is your Best Year Ever, I’ve got a special invitation for you that is going to help. Best still it is going to cost you NOTHING.
I want to help you kick off the new year with purpose and a plan in hand!
I am looking for 20 volunteers to help ensure my new ‘life planning’ training program works.
In return they get my entire life planning program plus coaching for FREE. This will ensure they get their new year resolutions/goals worked out NOW, and create an in depth plan to follow through on. They will have all the tools they need in their armoury available to them.
If you’re ready to volunteer, and never have me ask you for any money or donation ever, then drop me an email at coach@larry-lewis.com and just say you volunteer and we will get you started. This offer ends in a few days time Friday 30th November 2018. I want you starting December 1st.
With or without me, good luck in planning your 2019!
