I see it as my mission as a blogger to inspire the world through Personal Development and sharing my knowledge as a life coach.
Most readers of personal development blogs are desperately searching for ways to transform their life. You are probably one of them. I admire this because you’ve refused to settle for being less than you can be.
A few years ago my entire life changed, and I thank god that it did. I decided that I had reached a point in my life where I wasn’t happy and needed to make massive changes. I began a long process of understanding what it would take to experience massive success and become a magnet for all things good in life.
You may think that using the word magnet is strange. If so I strongly recommend you check out the magical book written by Rhonda Byrne called The Secret.
“There is no such thing as a hopeless situation. Every single circumstances of your life can change!” Rhonda Byrne
Are you considering making a huge change? Are you ready to find, follow, or commit to YOUR path? The one you’ve always been destined to take but haven’t found your way.
Let me share with you 9 steps to transform your life.
1) Create a vision for your life 10 years from today
This is absolutely essential. Most of you spend most of your time fighting daily battles and can’t think beyond tomorrow. Each day you wake up fearing what lies ahead and the idea of looking forward 10 years seems impossible. I’m telling you that it’s not. I’m also saying it is the most important thing you can ever do for yourself. I want you to imagine that from this moment forward everything starts going right for you. You enjoy success after success. every year you make massive progress, achieving goals, growing, fulfilling your potential. Now imagine after 10 successful years how fantastic your life will be. Now use your imagination to see your new life, happy, successful, balanced and fulfilled. Picture a day 10 years from now from the moment you wake up to the time you go to bed. Where are you? Who are you with? What are you doing? What’s great about your life? Take time to do this. Create a vision 10 years from today!
2) Devise your short-term goals
A large part of your life should now see you on a mission to achieving this 10 year vision. This big picture for your future requires you taking many steps. Your future really is in your hands. What you achieve in the next year or365 days needs to move you forward. It is imperative that you figure out the 4 biggest changes or improvements you need to make. Write these into 4 short-term goals. Check out this wheel of life https://www.larry-lewis.com/the-wheel-of-life and determine which 4 of the 10 categories are most important for your change to happen. Out of these 4 what 1 thing will make the biggest difference to each of these areas. Now turn these into goals.
3) Bring them together in a BHAG
I love this expression – big hairy audacious goals. You have 4 short term goals now you need to combine them into a statement that will motivate and inspire you to act and keep on taking action until you achieve it. Set the deadline for one year 365 days. Write it somewhere you’ll see it every day. Wake up each morning and let it direct you. I assure you that if you keep doing this, things will improve at a great pace. Get it written up, your 4 short term goals combined in an inspiring way.
4) Determine the compelling reasons behind this big goal
Why does it really matter? We all need big reasons to get us off our butts into action. If you succeed with all 4 of your short-term goals, what’s that going to mean to you? How will it improve your life? What significant differences will each goal make to you and maybe your love ones? Come up with reasons that make your hair stand up on the back of your neck. That just reading them would put a smile on your face. Most importantly they’d get you to charge through a wall, jump over a barrier or keep getting back up each time you’re knocked down. Come on ask yourself ‘Why do I want this?’
5) Put time in to create an action plan
Nothing is ever going to happen without you making it happen. You’re going to have to take decisive measured actions to achieve any goal in life. You are wanting to move from a to b, so how are you going to do it? What are the steps? Whose help do you need? What resources do you have to gather? What skills do you need? Work out every step you can, everything you need to do to make each of your 4 short term goals happen. You can add to this list at any time. Remember every goal has action steps once completed that will lead to its achievement. Get your plan together! Know precisely what you’re going to be doing. Spend as long on this as you need.
6) Find mentors who will inspire and support you
One of the hardest aspects of making a huge life change is shifting the way others see you and the way you see yourself. Your family, your friends, your employers or employees are never truly able to advice you nor can they kick your butt when you need it. No well-known sportsman has ever achieved greatness without a coach or mentor, so you need to find one that can be by your side and make sure you stay on mission.
7) Take a realistic look at life in a years’ time if you succeed vs. if you don’t succeed
What’s the price of failure? I’m not talking about what others will say because only one person matters here and that’s you. Failure will mean life stays the same or gets somewhat worse. Success will mean life moves forward closer to your 10 year vision and everything will look and feel better. You’ll have an inner pride of how well you have done in these 365 days and how much you’ve achieved. You’ll have given yourself something to build on and shown yourself that you can succeed. It will motivate you even more to keep doing what you’re doing.
8) Get started and make things happen
With the action plan you’ve created you’ll be ready to get started. Procrastination is often our worst enemy. Don’t let this stop you now. You have done every step to this point and now its down to you to charge out the blocks. Force yourself if you have to but tick some items of your list by getting them done. Give yourself momentum. Don’t stop. Whatever you’ve said needs doing get it done. That’s what winners do. You have it within you to be a winner.
9) Persist until you’ve succeeded
Things won’t always go smoothly. There will be failures and mistakes and road blocks. It won’t be easy. But it will get easier. You’ll get the hang of the new you. You’ll find your groove. And when you do, then comes the momentum. As if a once-imagined future is pulling you forward to meet it. And when you feel that, you’ll begin to know that it’s really happening. Everything you always hoped but maybe never fully believed could happen is truly happening. You have the power to do, think, achieve, say, have, and be anything in the world. It’s true. It might take you until your last breath to get there but even then, won’t it have been worth it? What else in the world could you possibly do when you know, truly know what it is you would work towards until your last day on earth?
“And I say it again, Never give up. No matter what is happening. No matter what is going on around you. Never give up.” The Dalai Lama
I can add more and over time I’m sure I will, but these 9 steps are enough to get you into action and begin to transform your life.
