There is no getting away from the fact that to be a successful blogger you have to create lots of quality content, on a subject you have knowledge in and a passion for. This is what I have been doing over at Healthy Lifestyles Living Blog for the last 18 months.
As a blogger I really do believe that content is king and the more value we bloggers give to our reader the more our audience will turn from reading one article to becoming frequent visitors. In my mind you must be creating great content before you even think about monetizing your blog. The content I created, and the relationships I developed in my social networking groups established my expertise online, supported by Webinars, article marketing and forum posting. This created a wonderful opportunity for me to then be able to make money reasonably easy.
It was only when I began establishing relationships with internet marketers that I learned what it took to make a really good income from my blogging work. I was making money by this point, far more than I had ever imagined possible at the beginning, but this was nothing compared to what I began to make once I pumped things up a bit.
A very simple piece of advice that I received, something that now seems so obvious, changed everything for me. What I was told, was to make real money, I needed to sell things. To sell things I needed to market them. Nothing earth shattering you may say, but it is something that so many bloggers over look. We spend all our time writing articles, and doing everything possible to bring traffic to our blog, we are unable to spend time to clarify exactly what is needed to be done to turn our blog into a business.
The secret to making money from your blog is to utilise marketing. When you do, you now have a business.
Once your blog is filled with unique and interesting content, a constant stream of highly engaged visitors and inbound links you’re now at the point where you need to implement a sales and marketing strategy.
Your blog offers you a brilliant front end asset. Your next steps are to:
- Create a list of loyal subscribers and readers
- Make sure that everyone who signs up at your site receives an email in response.
- Create a newsletter, a free e-course, or a free eBook for signing up to your list
- Now consider what your front end product or services is going to be
- Now it’s important to Advertise your products. with a very aggressive marketing campaign using the right keywords to properly promote your products online, to a targeted and focused audience.
Delivering value to your readers need not change once you begin to integrate marketing to your blog.
I believe anyone can sell from their blog. Selling products or services from your blog will make you money but mesh what you are selling with the real wants and needs of your audience.
