We are living at a time in history where we have more opportunities and possibilities to achieve our goals than ever before. Yet so few people seem to be successful at designing the life they desire, most failing with their goals time after time.
Confusion over what they want is frequently the reason people fail to create the lives they want.
They lack purpose together with a lack of belief what they are able to achieve. This feeling holds them back from attempting to fulfil their potential.
You need to know exactly what it is you want. Successful people have absolute clarity about what they want to be, do and have. They decide what they want, and then pursue it with passion and energy. Every successful person makes goals.
Alas most people feel uncertain about what they want and they don’t have any clarity about their future direction. This is a common problem. Without goals or clarity about the life they want they’ll just drift through life.
“It’s a lack of clarity that creates chaos and frustration. Those emotions are poison to any living goal.” Steve Maraboli
If you don’t take the time to get really clear about exactly what it is you’re wanting in your life, then you’re forever doomed to spend your life feeling unfulfilled.
In the absence of a clear direction, you will either meander aimlessly or you will build a life that you don’t feel good about. Ultimately you will be left with the sinking feeling that maybe you took a wrong turn somewhere along the way.
Don’t let that be what happens to you. You must have absolute clarity on what you want.
There are so many things competing for and demanding your focus in life. If you don’t make a conscious effort to decide in advance what you’re going to focus on, you’ll end up living in reaction to the demands of the moment, and be constantly thrown off target from your full potential.
Alternatively focusing constantly on what you want gives you the best chance of getting it and going on to fulfil your potential.
It’s time for you to identifying your big, long-term goals that you want to work your way towards. You need to consider your interests, things that bring you joy and things that keep you motivated.
So, how can you start getting clear?
One simple way to do this is by answering these questions for yourself.
• What do you believe in and stand for?
• What is most important to you in life?
• What would you pay for, fight for, suffer for and die for?
• What do you really care about?
• What one piece of knowledge can you share that will help make life better for others?
• What is your vision for yourself and your future in around 5 to 10 years’ time?
• What purpose do you wish to fulfil?
• What would make you excited when getting up every morning?
• What do you believe is your reason for being?
• What do you really want to do with your life from this point forward?
The greater the clarity you can create from answering these questions, the bigger and more exciting the vision you can paint in your mind, the greater the probability that you will accomplish something wonderful with your life.
Clarity is the most important thing. I can compare clarity to pruning in gardening. You know, you need to be clear. If you are not clear, nothing is going to happen. You have to be clear. Then you have to be confident about your vision. And after that, you just have to put a lot of work in. Diane von Furstenberg
