Think about this quote ‘Life always offers you a second chance. Its called tomorrow.’
Often a crisis hits at midlife when people look at the question: “What’s your life about? Is this all worth it?”
If you are like most people, life is a constant struggle and it seems nearly impossible to ever rise above what keeps you down. Having confronted my own version of this challenge many times over in my own life, I have learned that no matter how difficult the circumstances might appear, there’s always a way forward.
So many of you were so confident when you were younger, that eventually things would work out just right and you’d eventually get to the point of midlife where you would then be able to simply enjoy life. Yet it hasn’t worked out for so many of you. Things haven’t gone according to plan and you’re still having to work just as hard as you always have and your future looks nowhere nearly as exciting as you had once hoped.
Well it’s not too late to change direction or make the changes necessary which will allow you to enjoy life far more.
I have recently begun to work with a client who had the overwhelming feeling that the world was passing him by. He felt as if he was standing still while opportunity, excitement and people kept passing him by. What he came to see was that he had lost his way and couldn’t find the direction in which he wanted to move his life towards and even though he worked hard and was always busy, he couldn’t see any progress.
He is not alone. So many people who have reached the age of 50 find themselves disillusioned, discouraged and unhappy with their life. They spend far too many hours thinking to themselves ‘I wonder where it all went wrong?’
It doesn’t have to be this way. You can choose, no matter how young or old you are, to create a vision for your life and a plan to reach your dreams. There is a possibility for all of us to once again get excited about things you have to look forward to in your future? By creating a vision for your life, you create a destination and then life becomes like an amazing road trip where you will find incredible stops on your journey, and where you learn to enjoy the journey itself and not put life on hold waiting till you reach the destination.
In order for our lives to change for the better, we must be willing to change and improve. Personal growth and development take effort but you are definitely worth it. My own commitment to personal development is the reason I am where I am today
So whatever you age it’s time for you to live up to your potential instead of settling for less than you are worth. The most important piece of advice I have to offer you is to find your calling, a purpose for your life that drives and excites you that will enable you to both make a brilliant contribution to the world, but live a significant life where you will be remembered with fondness even after you’ve gone.
So spend today thinking about this one question:
Am I doing something that matters, if not what is it I want to do that will have a major positive impact not only on my life but others in this world I live in?
