I was horrified the other day when someone made an observation about this site. They told me that the message they thought I was putting over was that I was some type of guru. My heart dropped because this is the last thing that I was setting out to do from this blog. In fact it was probably the complete opposite to what I was trying to do.
I’m simply an ordinary guy that has had to deal with some extraordinary problems. Having had many failures on my life journey I have been able to move my life forward, surviving and now prospering, enjoying the life I’m living.
So the message I wanted to be putting over is that I’m just me, an average guy who has learned a lot and wants to help other human beings become more successful by using my story and the things I’ve learnt.
But let’s be clear. I’m no different from you. I just found the job that I love that led me to discover my purpose. I’m helping people live better lives every day. I love to write, I love to coach, so I love to share my knowledge much of which has been acquired on my life’s journey.
We can all make our life something to be proud of if we choose no matter what setbacks we meet on our journey. I’ve learnt that life isn’t always easy but with everything that comes our way we must learn to embrace the value of those hard-earned lessons it presents. When we take what we learn and use it and teach it to others then we are doing something we should be proud of. That’s the way I see my life as it is now.
In my life where I’ve experienced many failures, one of the lessons I’m desperate to convey to others fighting through struggles and personal disasters is that they too can find solutions and move life forward. It’s all about learning from everything that happens to us, and learning from others too.
Having reached the milestone of 50 years in my life, I’ve come to realize a number of the hard lessons I’ve learned, those real life experiences I have gone through, they’ve armed me with a knowledge that others needed, and I could make a difference to them. Not as a guru but as someone who cares and wants to help others avoid making the same mistakes as I did, and giving them shortcuts from the perspective of someone who has got through the type of things they’re dealing with.
That is all I want people to see that I offer. I know first impressions are incredibly important and others judge us on what they see at first sight. So I best make some changes to this site pretty soon before anyone else mistakenly thinks I am some type of guru. A coach yes, a guru no.
