Are you living in a fantasy world? An independent lifestyle is just a fantasy. Or that’s how it must seem to so many people.
I also don’t believe many people actually believe you can love your life and love your work in equal measure. Maybe that’s the secret of real success, to do work that not only inspires you, but that you genuinely love doing.
There I was this morning. It was about 11.30 I had done the first half of my blogging duties, and was now on the way down to the pool by way of the bar. Sitting on a stool drinking my rather pleasant cocktail I couldn’t help but overhear a rather heated debate between two guys about another one of their friends. So this is what I discovered from a little bit of ease dropping. He needed to realise this is just a holiday resort. Two weeks of freedom, that when over its back to the drudgery and despair of normal living. Last night he had obviously voiced his opinion that things could be better, and the 9 to 5 way of life, doing a job you hated, chasing a pay check, struggling to pay the bills, with only a 2 week holiday and a Christmas break to look forward to, wasn’t what he wanted any longer. These two friends thought he was absolutely bonkers, must have drank way to much Sangria, and he needed to get his ass back on the factory floor asap. But this guy had told them that 2 weeks of holidays a year shouldn’t be all there is. Travelling is something you should have more freedom to do. Why couldn’t there be a way to make money that allowed you more freedom than working as he was in a factory.
From the outside looking in, it must be very frustrating to know in your soul what you want your life to look like, but to feel that it lies beyond the reach of your fingertips, and you just don’t know what to do to make it a possibility for yourself.
I’m hoping maybe I’m going to get the chance to bump into this guy. I want to tell him, that his right. Life doesn’t have to be so hard or meaningless. Once he finds his way, he will just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other to get to the finish. Each step he takes will give him the momentum to power on to the next.
There are so many pieces of the puzzle to slot together that getting started can be so off putting for many, but do what we did, believe in yourself, believe in what you want to do, have a passion for it, then determinedly stick with it.
But the secret, surely you my readers already know it, make a living out of your life’s passion.
With all of the challenges in the world at the moment and everywhere we look we find negativity, it’s hard to believe in the possibilities this brings. Well start to believe.
Follow the type of mantra that Neil and I have. We said, for us 2013 , we are going to really focus on what we can achieve in a year and see how much more we can change the direction of our lives? We know we can make huge strides.
