Entrepreneurship is a way of life that offers unlimited possibilities to those who truly believe in what they’re doing and in what they have to offer. The best of us understand that the road ahead is not going to be an easy one. Many battles will lie ahead, and defeat is possible. But our determination and resilience will see us through, supported of course by our passion for what it is we’re doing, and our complete belief in what we offer.
Statistics will show that as many start up businesses succeed as though that fail. As a mentor and entrepreneur I have met many talented people, but not all have succeeded.
The thing I try and instill in wannabee entrepreneurs is that they have to treat business failure as a milestone on the road to success. They will come away from every failure learning from their mistakes, and they then have the power to use their new found knowledge to move to the next idea.
The one thing that you can never allow failure to do is make you feel like a failure. Worse still to allow it to force you to give up. You set out on the road to become a successful entrepreneur, and by god you must finish the journey.
Failure is a given in life. You can not expect to succeed at everything, to win every battle. Just bounce back, and know in the end you will succeed.
Even in business, failure is just part of a journey, and is a path to success. The fact that you attempted to fulfil your dream is admirable, no matter what the outcome. So many are afraid to take the risk and go after their dreams. If you are passionate enough no failure will ever stop you. It’s all part of the learning curve.
“Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes”. Oscar Wilde
The entrepreneurial journey is one of discovery and learning. Growing a business is a constant process of experimenting to see what works, as well as finding what doesn’t. If you stay at this process long enough you will succeed. If you’re not able to keep at it long enough you fail. Often entrepreneurs give up too quickly, where if they’d continued they would have made things work.
Every entrepreneur has made a series of mistakes or been subject to failure on their entrepreneurial journey. These setbacks taught them more about business than any textbook, lecture, or mentor ever could.
Failure does not have to be a complete disaster. You can find the clues for success from what happened. But you must review what failure has taught you. There are always things to take away from a failure, to inform your future direction.
Of course failure will challenge you. But the winners will come out showing persistence, self-discipline, determination and belief and supported by hard work they succeed. Choosing to see failure as an opportunity for growth and as a valuable learning tool only increases your likelihood for future success
So if you’ve experience failure in business, or feel that you are failing, explore the invaluable knowledge that you must now have collected on your journey to evolve and step into the light.
Your success is truly awaiting.
“Success seems to be connected with action. Successful men keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit”. Conrad Hilton
