Like anything in life, what you put into it, you get out of it.
“The secret to success in any business is to sell a great, compelling product.” – Michael Hyatt
I was doing a coaching session with my online partners earlier in the week. I hope that one of the main messages they understood was when building an online business ‘start with the end in mind’.
Building an online business is not easy. Jumping head first into it is even worse.
Before you begin building a blog, putting together your online presence, think about your end-goal, the ‘Big Picture’.
What is the big picture? The big picture is simply the entirety of what you’re doing – your ultimate goal and how it relates to everything around it. Where do you see yourself in five years? 10 years? 20?
Big picture thinking takes a broad focus not a fixation on the smallest of details. This certainly doesn’t lessen the importance of the details, but in order to get an accurate picture of where you are and where you’re going, you need to step back and take an overview.
At times, it’s vital that you take a step back. Particularly at the beginning. It’s all too easy to get wrapped up in the small details of your projects, goals, and even your whole life, without ever thinking much about where you’re really heading, and how you want to do it, and let’s not forget what’s important to you.
People who go to the top think differently than others. They ask themselves the important questions. What do you want to accomplish with your business? What’s your main objective? They also make sure they’re doing what they want to do, what fits with their lifestyle choices.
“Nothing limits achievement like small thinking. Nothing expands possibilities like unleashed thoughts “.William Arthur Ward
We are able to give our team a unique business model but they have to create the specific strategy they want to take. To get things right, before they start worrying about the details, I want them to start with the end in mind. They need to bring their own personal big picture to play here, making sure their business is right for them, and what they want.
They’re going to have to come out with their very own product and service because they’re each unique and I can assure you theirs no “one-size-fits-all” strategy. The model they use will be the same, but the specifics will be different. By starting with the end in mind, everything else will fall in place. You know what you want the outcome to be, now all you need to do is make it work.
You see I believe you will never get to where you want to be if you don’t know where it is.
“If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else.” Lawrence J. Peter
When you are setting your goals for your online success it’s really important that you are taking actions to achieve those goals that are in line with your talents and what you like to do.
Form the big picture in your mind and let your life be guided toward it. One of the most important things you’re going to have to do is build your very own product. At the outset you need to be visualising what this will be.
Most people don’t really think about their product at the front end. You need to create a product so exceptionally good, your customers have an experience that is almost magical in their eyes and gives them unbelievable value. It’s got to fit with both your long term strategy and your personal intentions. So it makes sense to put consideration into it while focusing on your big picture.
Tomorrow I’ll bring you an article about Mind Mapping, an incredible tool to help you get your big picture.
What about you? Are you starting with the end in mind?
